In 2008 we plan to offer our guest traditional home-made food, from breakfast to dinner. For dinner we cook some of Tuscany's best home-made pasta, like tagliatelle, tortelli, gnocchi, strapponi and pici. Main courses include red and white meat; for vegetarians, we can prepare vegetable flans and pies. All our food is prepared with love, ability, and knowledge from our cook. You will be able to taste the great flavors this land offers.
Farm Holidays Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The most important product is our organic extra virgin olive oil, made from our 1200 olive trees, extended on over six hectares. Our olive oil is free from any pesticides and is highly recommendable for whoever is looking for a healthy and well-balanced diet. Recent studies have proved how the "Mediterranean diet", with olive oil as its main source of lipids, plays an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular risk factors like dislipidemia, hypertension, obesity, and in heart diseases. Moreover, there is evidence proving that the mediterranean diet might help preventing some forms of cancer.
Visit our olive groves, the age-old ones or the new ones, and you will discover the beauty of this plant cultivated for thousands of years in the Mediterranean basin.
Farm Holidays Garden and Fruit.
We grow a vegetable garden and have different species of fruit trees. These products are at our guest's disposal and they can be bought in season. Among other activities there's apiculture, with over 100 beehives and different types of organic honey. Honey is a highly nutrient and delicious nourishment: our bees produce various types of flavored honey (sunflower, wild flowers,..) Our bees live in a pure and unspoiled environment, away from cars and pollution: therefore they produce healthy and genuine honey. The organic honey we produce has different flavors: sunflower, wildflowers, etc.
We have been breeding the Tuscan Cinta Senese for several years. The Cinta Senese, pig of Tuscany, is the only Tuscan native pig breed to survive extinction.
It is known from renaissance paintings, including the 14 Century fresco called “Effetti del Buongoverno” and painted by Ambrogio Lorenzetti in the Palazzo Comunale of Siena.
Thanks to breeding in the natural state, the meat is evenly veined with fat, with an outstanding flavor and aroma.
But we also breed goats that graze on the slopes of Montecalvi, few cows that us the taste of limousine and chianina meat and a number of geese for special dishes.
We make a range of cured meats with various parts of the animal: lardo, prosciutto, finocchiona.
